To enhance North America's competitiveness in the semiconductor industry, Tecmilenio has formed a strategic partnership with Arizona State University (ASU). This collaboration is designed to equip Mexican students and professionals with the technical knowledge and English language skills essential for success in the semiconductor sector.
As part of the initiative, the online course "English for the Semiconductor Industry" has been launched. Tailored for engineers and technicians, the course focuses on developing technical English proficiency relevant to semiconductor manufacturing and innovation. This program plays a vital role in the memorandum of understanding signed in 2022 between ASU and the Mexican Embassy in the United States, aimed at advancing workforce development and educational opportunities in this critical industry.
Esteban Moctezuma Barragán, Mexico's ambassador to the United States, emphasized the significance of this partnership during the course’s launch event. He highlighted that the semiconductor industry is fundamental to economic growth and national security, requiring a highly skilled and specialized workforce.
Tecmilenio has been instrumental in facilitating this collaboration by ensuring its students can access the course and encouraging participation among educational institutions across Mexico. So far, more than 10,000 participants—including students, industry professionals, and lifelong learners—have enrolled to develop new competencies and strengthen existing ones.
This partnership between Tecmilenio and ASU not only addresses the rising demand for semiconductor talent but also supports greater supply chain integration and fosters sustainable economic growth throughout North America.
By launching initiatives like this, both institutions reaffirm their shared commitment to educational excellence and regional economic development.
